Jack O’Connell discusses his performance as a British soldier in new drama ’71. He also talks about when he met model Cara Delevingne, 24. The two met when they were working on the upcoming period drama, Tulip Fever, and they are now rumoured to be dating. Jack insisted Cara needed no help or advice when it came to breaking into acting. He said: “I didn’t really need to [advise her]. She knocked my socks off with the work that she did on that set. In fact, she helped me by turning up and just doing it. I’m excited for it, Tulip Fever. I think that’s another integral piece of work, that I look forward to seeing.”The 24-year-old British actor – who previously dated Tulisa Contostavlos and stars in Angelina Jolie’s new directorial project Unbroken – won rave reviews for his performance as a young offender behind bars in Starred Up last year. In ’71 he plays disorientated British soldier Gary, who is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the streets of Belfast in 1971. Jack admitted it was a real challenge to play such a different, reserved character.
