According to Warner Bros., Andy Serkis ‘ take on The Jungle Book is set for a fall 2016 theatrical release in the U.S. The 3D film, Jungle Book: Origins , will hit theaters on October 21, 2016. Disney’s live action movie, The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau , will bow in theaters a year prior to Serkis’ film, on October 9, 2015. The filmmaker is known for acting roles in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Rise of the Planet of the Apes .
