It’s the one time of the year Hollywood royalty, a.k.a. film actors, mingle with the low-life that is television — it’s the Golden Globes . This year, Kate Beckinsale, Peter Krause, Paula Patton and Jeremy Piven awoke at an ungodly hour in Los Angeles to announce the nominees.
For Best Picture, Drama, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose “Boyhood,” “Foxcatcher,” “The Imitation Game,” “Selma” and “The Theory of Everything.”
For Best Picture, Musical or Comedy, the nominees are “Birdman,” “Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Into the Woods,” “Pride” and “St. Vincent.”
And in TV the nominees for Best Series, Drama are “The Affair,”
“Downton Abbey,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife” and “House of Cards.”
In the category of Best Series, Comedy, the nominees are
“Girls,” “Jane the Virgin,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Silicon Valley,” and “Transparent.” The choices for Best Television Movie or Mini-series are “Fargo,” “The Missing,” “The Normal Heart,” “Olive Kitteridge,” and “True Detective.” Leading the pack in the category of Best Actor in a TV Comedy or Musical is Louis C.K. of “Louie” followed by Don Cheadle for “House of Lies,” Ricky Gervais in “Derek,” William H. Macy in “Shameless” and Jeffrey Tambor for “Transparent.” The nominees for Best Actress in a TV Drama are Claire Danes, “Homeland,” Viola Davis, “How To Get Away With Murder,” Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife,” Robin Wright, “House of Cards” and Ruth Wilson, “The Affair.”
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the Golden Globes on January 11th.
