‘Birdman’ director Alejandro G Inarritu was joined on the Film Independent Spirit Awards Santa Monica red carpet by ‘A Most Violent Year’ star Jessica Chastain and ‘Selma’ producer Oprah Winfrey. The trio hailed the importance of independent film, but Inarritu warned it seemed like it was in a species “in extinction”.
