Birdman soared to the top of the Golden Globe nominees, picking up seven nods, including Best Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical, while Boyhood, The Imitation Game and Big Eyes followed with five each. In the television categories, Fargo led the pack with five, while True Detective and House of Cards followed with four each.
Boyhood will compete in the Best Motion Picture — Drama category, against Selma, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything. Meanwhile, Birdman will go toe-to-toe in the Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical category with The Grand Budapest Hotel, Into the Woods, Pride and St. Vincent.
Along with its Best Picture — Comedy or Musical nomination, Michael Keaton, Emma Stone and Edward Norton were all nominated for their performances in Birdman, as was director Alejandro González Iñárritu.
