Blur bass player Alex James has said Glastonbury does not need them to fill the Friday night headliner slot. The Britpop pioneers, who headlined in 1998 and 2009, have backed Florence And The Machine – who have been bumped up the running order – to make a successful appearance at the top of the bill. The Florence Welch-fronted band’s headline show comes after Dave Grohl, front man with American rock group Foo Fighters, had to pull out of the Somerset festival after fracturing his leg on stage in Sweden last week.
