It’s easy to understand why Terminator: Genisys and Magic Mike XXL might be feeling angry with Pixar’s Inside Out and Universal’s Jurassic World.
Inside Out and Jurassic World pulled ahead of the two new films Thursday to win the North American box-office race with $7.7 million and $6.9 million, respectively, raising the distinct possibility they will dominate Fourth of July weekend ahead of the new entries (Inside Out is tipped to take the crown).
Since opening Wednesday, both Genisys and Magic Mike XXL have done less business than expected, although Genisys clearly has far more at stake, considering its $155 million production budget and ambitions of relaunching the storied franchise.
