New Line’s rebooted “Vacation” has opened respectably with $3.8 million on its first day at 3,310 theaters in the U.S.
The Wednesday number includes $1.2 million from preview showings on Tuesday night. “Vacation” is not a big risk for New Line with a relatively modest $31 million budget.
“Vacation,” which has received mostly negative reviews with a 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, marks the directorial debut of screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
