Though not as famous in pop culture, guitar players the world over know Buddy Guy like the world over knows Elvis, or any other pop icon.
Because as a guitarist, Guy is just that…an icon.
But he’s also a humble one, despite his immense talent across the fretboard and over some pick-ups.
And he best shows it when talking about the musicians who inspired him.
Guy recently played a show with one such musician, as he joined Keith Richards and The Rolling Stones on stage.
Not long after Rolling Stone magazine met up with Guy who gave a special tribute to Richards.
He said of his friend and contemporary, “It’s hard to put your finger on why Keith is such a great guitar player.”
Guy added, “I try to copy that stuff from him and I can’t get it, man. And I’ve been trying ever since I met him.”
