CBS is looking for its version of Emmy darling Modern Family. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the network has handed out a pilot order for Life in Pieces, a comedy from Better Off Ted alum Justin Adler and prolific producer Aaron Kaplan. Written on spec, the single-camera comedy centers is about one family that’s told through the separate stories of its different family members. For his part, Kaplan ranked atop this past development season’s overachievers, setting up more than 15 projects at various broadcast networks.
