Charlize Theron is all about being tough this year. Just off the huge box office success of her post-apocalyptic Mad Max: Fury Road comes Dark Places. In the film, an adaptation of Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name, Theron plays a woman who gets involved with a club that tries to solve notorious crimes to find out what happened when her brother apparently killed their family when he was still in high school. In a viral video, Theron confronts her brother (played by House of Cards’ Corey Stoll) in prison. Dark Places is in theaters Aug. 7.
