Officials said on Thursday that Comic-Con International will remain in San Diego through 2018.
Though other cities have attempted to attract the world’s foremost cultural convention away, the far Southern California city will retain it’s high-profile annual event.
Comic-Con is the longest running annual convention in the US for it’s kind, contributing an estimated $136 million to the regional economy.
The event draws in more than 100,000 for insights into upcoming films and TV series related to comic books, super heroes, and science fiction.
Comic-Con had previously only committed to staying in San Diego until 2016, but under the agreement, the event will stay in San Diego for two more years.
