Could Joss Whedon be staging a move from the Marvel Universe to one that’s far, far, away?
Possibly. New online rumors are suggesting that Whedon, now free from his Marvel obligations, might join the Star Wars franchise in some capacity. While it seems unlikely that he’d direct Episode IX, since Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly waiting to see if J.J. Abrams will accept the gig first, there are still plenty of opportunities for Whedon. The bottom line is, Whedon’s available and Disney/Lucasfilm is interested. While it’s all just rumors for now, hopefully official word will come from one camp or another soon.
