Mad Max: Fury Road’s special effects and graphic violence made the film a breakout action spectacle.
The raw and rusted metal of the vehicles and desolate environment also gave the film a sense of grit which was anything but cute.
Cue custom toy creator Kelsey Wailes who turned adorable My Little Pony figurines into dystopian freedom fighters from the film.
The Fury Road characters include Mad Max Rockatansky, Imperator Furiosa, Nux, and Immortan Joe.
Wailes said, “something is very funny about an adorable pony covered in motor oil and pieces of trash metal.”
Wailes herself was inspired by the film when she was creating her merry band of magical, oppression-hating ponies.
Each character was created using a vinyl My Little Pony toy covered in polymer clay; different accents like leather, acrylics, synthetic hair and sealants are added for effect.
