David Letterman celebrated his last show at the helm of CBS’ The Late Show Wednesday night, ending a 22-year run as host — and an overall 33-year run in late night comedy.
The show opened with a montage of presidents from George Bush Sr. to Barack Obama saying, “Our long national nightmare is over.” The nightmare, of course, being Letterman.
