Class will resume at Degrassi High on new campus grounds: Netflix.
The streaming service announced Tuesday that Degrassi: Next Class, will premiere with 20 new episodes on Netflix and Canada’s Family Channel in early 2016.
This comes a week after TeenNick announced “Degrassi” would end its 14-season run on that network in July.
“Degrassi: Next Class” is the latest offshoot of a Canadian TV franchise reaching back to 1979.
The new stories will be targeted for the post-millennial teen crowd known as Generation Z.
Linda Schuyler, “Degrassi” co-creator and executive producer, notes that most of the new target audience wasn’t even born when the current version of “Degrassi” was created in 2001.
