Demi Lovato has not been shy about praising her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, and she continues to speak very highly of her significant other. Especially when it comes to the pair’s relationship during the star’s difficult time in her life.
Lovato spoke to Sydney’s Kyle And Jackie O show on KIIS 106.5 FM on Tuesday, and the 22-year-old, who has been dating the 35-year-old That ’70s Show star on and off since 2010, said her personal issues certainly affected their relationship, but Wilmer was always supportive.
She confessed, “There were some moments when it was off and on when I was struggling with my issues.” Lovato explained, “What he would do is he wouldn’t enable me so he’d say, ‘I can’t be around if you’re not going to get your stuff together.'”
Demi continued, “It made me fight for it. He’s a very, very good guy.”
Three years ago, Lovato began her journey to overcoming her struggle with substance abuse, an eating disorder and alcoholism, but most of all an addiction that made her “a manipulator and a liar.”
