Downton Abbey is gearing up for the last few episodes of the season but — with Episode 5, at least — it seems to be killing time. Many of the main story lines make little progress this week. So what does happen in Episode 5? Tom makes a big decision, the ladies of the Downton busy themselves with their love lives, a couple of people depart and there’s a huge shake-up by an absolutely unexpected and shocking event that is unlike anything we’ve seen in the house.
