Friends fans deserve a belated pat on the back for helping to make what would become one of the show’s main couples a reality.
Speaking at the ATX Television Festival on Friday at a panel about series finales, co-creator Marta Kaufman revealed that Monica and Chandler’s friendship-turned-romance was not always part of the greater Friends plan.
“We had no idea what response that was going get,” she said of the couple’s surprise hookup in the Season 4 finale, set in London.
