To say the new J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars films are highly anticipated would be an understatement and now at long last fans know a crucial piece of the puzzle for their first installment. Entertainment Weekly reports that the first film in the new trilogy will be called Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens. The Force Awakens is set to be released next year and will feature past Star Wars favorites Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, and will be directed by the aforementioned J.J. Abrams. Details of the film’s story have been kept under very tight wraps, although it obviously takes place after the fall of the Empire in Episode VI and will involve older versions of the original Star Wars trilogy’s heroes.
