At Elle magazine’s annual Women in Television event in LA on Tuesday night It was all about celebrating today’s strong, complex female television characters. Small-screen stars like Lena Dunham, Nina Dobrev , Gabrielle Union , Jaime King, and Tracee Ellis Ross all gathered at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood for dinner, drinks, and inspiring speeches. Director-producer Shonda Rhimes had the company of her show’s stars, former Grey’s Anatomy actress Kate Walsh and current Scandal star Katie Lowes; also on hand for the event — and sweetly sticking close together — were Modern Family ‘s Sarah Hyland and her onscreen mom Julie Bowen.
