Unless you guard the galaxy, the summer film season ended not with a bang, but a record-setting whimper. Despite being in theaters for more than a month, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Disney’s latest Marvel superhero entry, held off newcomers to top the box office over an anemic Labor Day weekend. According to studio estimates from Rentrak, “Guardians of the Galaxy” collected $22.2 million over the four-day holiday, becoming the biggest movie of the year with $280.5 million.
