Starting in 2016 Bill Simmons will be the voice of sports for HBO.
The former ESPN employee split with the cable sports network earlier this year.
His contract was set to expire in September.
Now Simmons will be in a position to greatly affect the content for his network.
The partnership will reportedly stretch across a variety of platforms; though he will not participate in boxing coverage.
Effective in October, Simmons will appear exclusively on HBO and it’s on-demand services.
Michael Lombardo, HBO’s president of programming, stated his excitement for Simmons as the signature voice for the network’s sports and pop culture coverage.
