It was 10 years ago that modern rock band Fountains of Wayne scored a hit single with “Stacy’s Mom.” Today, the song lives on thanks to American Idol alum Casey Abrams, who gives the radio favorite a jazzy twist. The 23-year old season-10 finalist uploaded a video of his cover on the YouTube channel Postmodern Jukebox, adding a ragtime feel, melodica, tinkering piano keys, and scatting. The singer said the song has a special place in his heart. He says, “To be honest it’s one of the only songs I know by heart for some reason. If I really love [a song], I learn it. … I figured, let’s combine two things I love which is Fountains of Wayne and jazz.”
