A bunch of Captain America fans were a bit bemused last night, after the BBC announced Chris Evans as the new lead presenter of Top Gear.
Evans, a British TV and radio presenter, had been rumoured as a front-runner for the position for some time, and following Tuesday night’s confirmation people were quick to tweet a mixture of anger, support, and – in the case of some Marvel fans – confusion.
Twitter user John Dope asked, “Why is Captain America hosting Top Gear?”
Alas, things were eventually cleared up. As user Sallie Anne put it, “Chris Evans has signed a deal for top gear, not hot captain America, just the British guy.”
