July’s Ischia Global Film and Music Festival will be dedicated to the life of late music star Whitney Houston. A special screening of the Lifetime biopic Whitney will lead the commemoration, playing July 11, one night before the Italian festival’s opening. A selection of Houston’s films will then be screened throughout the festival, including The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife and Sparkle. Her hit “I Will Always Love You,” from The Bodyguard, earned her two Grammy awards for best record of the year and best pop vocal performance. Houston died February 11, 2012 after accidentally drowning in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The official coroner’s report listed the effects of heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors to her death.
