Despite the great disturbance in the Force on Monday morning, no one knows exactly when or where the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will debut. We only know that it will, on Friday, and it’ll be 88 seconds long. Episode VII director JJ Abrams tweeted out one of his hand-drawn messages Monday, just a few hours after Regal Entertainment Group, the nation’s largest movie theater chain, leaked what appeared to be a list of nine locations that will debut the trailer for paying customers. Mashable spoke with industry insiders who are highly dubious that such a high-profile sneak would go to such a small audience; the more likely scenario is that Regal is just part of a wider plan that hasn’t been made entirely clear. The theater also posted a couple of mea culpa tweets, after deleting its initial tweet announcing the trailer rollout — but those have also been deleted.
