Director James Gunn confirmed, on Facebook of all places, that his Guardians follow-up will introduce Peter Quill’s papa. Many assumed that Gunn would work Star-Lord’s dad into the sequel—with multiple hints dropped in the first Guardians—but his announcement today makes it official.
And while Gunn announced one Marvel character’s appearance in Guardians 2, he confirmed another—and much bigger—character’s absence. Despite the speculation of some, The Hulk will not make an appearance in the 2017 film. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
