Russell, insisting news of a set bust-up between them is nothing but “a terrible rumor.” A representative for the studio behind the new film, “Joy,” dismissed talk of trouble on set early on Friday, following reports suggesting the actress had fallen out with her director, who also worked on her movies “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle.” Lawrence is now speaking out in defense of O. Russell in a post on her Facebook.com page. The actress wrote, “David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great, and I’m having a blast making it!”
