The first year of Jimmy Kimmel Live! wasn’t easy for its host. Jimmy Kimmel revealed during South By Southwest that he wanted ABC to cancel the show early on. Kimmel said, “”I wanted them to cancel it, so I didn’t have to quit.” He explained that on some days, he would be without a guest just hours before he was supposed to go live. More than 13 years later, Kimmel has found his groove. Speaking to a packed house at the annual festival, the comedian took a walk down memory lane with interviewer Kevin Ryder, host of KROQ morning show Kevin and Bean, where Kimmel got his start. Kimmel was at SXSW ahead of the week-long taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! from Austin.
