Jurassic World took in $100.1 million in its first five days in China, the world’s second biggest film market. Hollywood is having a powerful run in China this year, with Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron and now Jurassic World earning enormous sums in their opening weeks. The Jurassic Park story seems to chime with audiences in China, especially in formats like Imax. The 2013 3D rerelease of Jurassic Park in China took in more than North America did grossing over $57 million. Figures from industry data group Entgroup revealed that Jurassic World had 344,103 showings and 15.73 million admissions . However, the annual “blackout” period is due to begin on Jun. 19th, when Hollywood movies have to give way to Chinese films, and that usually runs until the end of July.
