Director Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World is crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office on Monday, becoming the fastest movie in history to achieve that feat. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, has been in release for less than two weeks.
In North America, the Universal movie cleared $400 million on Sunday, likewise at a record pace. Final numbers aren’t in for the weekend, but it looks like Jurassic World did more business than expected on Sunday, meaning it also scored the top sophomore gross of all time. Jurassic World beat the $103.1 million earned domestically by Avengers in its second weekend.
