Justin Bieber is battling dark moods as he struggles to prepare his music comeback and can barely summon the energy to get out of bed in the morning.
The troubled singer is set to release a new single, “What Do You Mean?,” next month, which will be followed by his first album since a slew of headline-grabbing legal troubles threatened to derail his pop career.
However, Bieber admits the project, which is his first album since 2012’s Believe, is taking a toll on his mental health.
He tells Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM U.S. radio show, “I’ve been working a lot in the studio, just trying to have a consistent sound, a cohesive sound. I get in my head a lot and I get kind of depressed because I want it to work so badly. I want people to love it. I want to inspire people. Sometimes I wonder, ‘Is this good enough? Is this the direction I want to go?’ I had kind of a rough week last week. I get in my head and I don’t want to get out of bed sometimes.”
