Kanye West is known for many things, most notably of late his erratic oscillations between outburst and apology. However, he showed a new side of himself this week when he burst into tears during an interview on the BBC’s Radio 1.
He was discussing his career and attempts to break into the fashion industry with presenter Zane Lowe, and began by talking about the barriers he’s faced.
West discussed fashion professor Louise Wilson, who was the director of the MA fashion degree at Central Saint Martins and trained Alexander McQueen and Christopher Kane and died last year.
“I went to Louise Wilson’s memorial,” he said, “the greatest fashion instructor of all time.”
Kanye said “Last time I saw her, we had a dinner at Hakkasan which is my favourite restaurant in London and I think she knew that she was going to pass.”
“I didn’t know we were going to lose her. She said ‘thank you for the times where we came to performances, this really meant a lot to me’. You know, she would…”
At this point he began crying.
