Elijah Wood isn’t just a star of “The Last Witch Hunter.” He apparently knows one of witches’ most intimate secrets. Wood said in an interview at Comic-Con, “I’m actually a real fan of witches.” He added that he’d like to see more of them on the big screen. The 34-year-old actor also knows a bit of their lore: He said the origin of witches flying on broomsticks came from a real pastime. He explained, “There was a salve that they used to put on brooms that would make them high. That’s where the myth behind the flying witch comes from: a real application of this sort of hallucinogen. It’s awesome. We don’t get into that in ‘The Last Witch Hunter,’ however.”
