Actress Lena Dunham has cut back on her Twitter usage after she received multiple taunts from online bullies.
The “Girls” star was once a celebrity staple on Twitter, but she confessed she has had to remove the Twitter app from her cell phone because the rude comments from Internet critics was becoming too much.
During an interview with Ryan Seacrest during the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, the host asked Dunham whether she would be checking social media for fan reactions to the “Girls” season four premiere, which aired on HBO the same night.
Dunham replied, “I deleted Twitter because I’m trying to create a safer space for myself emotionally. People like, threatened my life and told me what a cow I am so I decided I was gonna cut it out… I check it occasionally, but it’s not the same co-dependence Twitter that I once shared…
