Saturday Night Live has promoted Leslie Jones from writer and frequent guest star on Weekend Update to full-time cast member. Jones has been working at 30 Rock as a staff writer for the show since early this year and was one of the 12 finalists vying for a cast member role last year. The spot eventually went to Sasheer Zamata, but now it looks like Jones is getting her turn in the spotlight as well. Jones tweeted her excitement after the good news was released, saying, “It’s official I’m a cast member!!! Get ready! Get ready!!”
