Turkey’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner Winter Sleep , from Nuri Bilge Ceylan , Russian festival favorite and foreign-language Oscar nominee Leviathan from Andrei Zvyagintsev and Lars von Trier ‘s Nymphomaniac Director’s Cut are among the five nominees for the best European film honor at this year’s European Film Awards. Also competing for the 27th annual award will be Pawel Pawlikowski ’s Ida , which got the most nominees in major categories, and Force Majeure from Sweden’s Ruben Ostlund . In the past two years, the winner of the best picture honor at the European Film Awards went on to win the Oscar for best foreign-language film.
