It’s been 11 years since the Libertines last released a studio album, but the British rock group led by singer Carl Barat and guitarist Pete Doherty will finally return with new music September 4th when they release their new LP Anthems for Doomed Youth. After nearly a decade-long hiatus fueled by infighting and Doherty’s rampant drug use, Barat and Doherty – along with drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall – reunited in 2014. The 12-song Anthems for Doomed Youth features the band’s recently unveiled track “Gunga Din,” which the Libertines performed for the first time June 20th during their performance at the Netherlands’ Best Kept Secret Festival.
