In what can best be described as “totally awesome dude,” the Criterion Collection released Matthew McConaughey’s audition tape from his breakout role in Richard Linklater‘s 1993 stoner classic Dazed and Confused on Monday. McConaughey, who was in his early twenties when this was shot, is all tan and flashing that famous smile, in the clip. Sadly there’s no “alright, alright alright” here, but viewers do see the film’s two other big catchphrases: “Say man, you got a joint? It’d be a little cooler if you did” and “That’s what I love about high school girls man, I keep getting older, they stay the same age.”
