When it comes to the Emmys, “fun” is probably not the first word that comes to mind.
Nonetheless, says Seth Meyers — who will host NBC’s Aug. 25 broadcast of TV’s big awards — “fun” is his mantra.
“Just be upbeat and have fun. … We don’t want it to feel morbid, we want it to feel like a celebration of a year in TV.”
Lately on awards shows, the tone of that celebration has seemed to be mean, but Meyers says that isn’t his style. As for his show and how it’s going, Meyers says “I feel more comfortable with every show, which I hope is showing.”
