Jesse Helt, a homeless man who accepted a VMA award for singer Miley Cyrus last weekend, turned himself in at the Polk County Community Corrections in Dallas, Oregon, on an outstanding warrant for probation violation. Sheriff Bob Wolfe said Helt, 22, was booked around 8:30 p.m. Helt was selected by Cyrus to give an acceptance speech for her, after she met him at My Friend’s Place shelter for homeless youths in Los Angeles last week. It’s not clear whether Cyrus knew that there were warrants for his arrest in Oregon–dating to November, 2010.
