David Gandy could have been your Christian Grey. Male British supermodel David Gandy has revealed that he was approached to play Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey but turned down the role. He was never a big fan of the bestseller anyway. In an interview with Daily Mirror he criticized it by saying: “I thought it was badly written.” In an interview with Square Mile, Gandy added, “I was offered Fifty Shades of Grey, 300: Rise of an Empire, Hercules, which a lot of people probably would have taken as actors, but I’m in the fortunate position where I like what I’m doing. I don’t feel the need to act.” While talking about the much-hyped movie adaptation of E. L. James’ widely read but critically panned erotic novels, Gandy said he felt it was right to say no to the role.
