In comedy, there’s a saying that jokes should punch up, not down. Perhaps someone should tell Adam Sandler. More than 22,000 people have signed a petition demanding Sandler to change the script for his latest film, The Ridiculous Six. It’s the first of Sandler’s four-movie deal with Netflix, garnering nonstop controversy for being racially offensive toward Native Americans, while parading under the “satire” label. About a dozen actors recently walked off the set, citing the script’s offensive nature and the inaccurate set design. Video footage captured from the set shows the actors arguing with an unidentified producer over character names and inappropriately decorated teepees. When reached by Mashable, a Netflix representative said “no comment.”
