The new rules for the Emmys , which — among other things — amend the requirements for entering the major categories, are poised to shake up the 2015 race. On Friday, the Television Academy announced the implementation of several new rules, most notably one that defines a TV comedy as a series with episodes that run for 30 minutes or less. That means Orange is the New Black and Shameless , which have hour-long episodes, are moving into the highly competitive drama race this year.
