Oprah Winfrey led a moving march through the streets of Selma, AL, on Sunday in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. She was joined by the star of the movie Selma, actor David Oyelowo; his father, Stephen; and the film’s director, Ava Duvernay, for the commemorative event. Also on hand for the march were the Oscar-nominated duo Common and John Legend, who recently took home a Golden Globe for their song “Glory,” which is featured in the film. Selma Mayor George Evans and huge crowds of locals also walked with the group, and many people held signs with Dr. King’s inspirational messages and listened intently as Oprah gave a speech with the mayor by her side. The stars continued their march to the Edmund Pettus Bridge, where they showed a special screening of Selma followed by a performance of “Glory” from Legend and Common.
