Television Academy members once again tipped their hats to Netflix shows — series that are notably hosted only online instead of on cable or network TV — in a major way during Thursday’s nominations announcement for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards. The first season of Orange Is the New Black earned 12 nods, the most for any comedy. House of Cards returns to the Emmy fray as the political thriller’s second season snagged 13 nominations in the race. Orange Is the New Black will try to lock down a win in Outstanding Comedy Series, though it will have to dethrone perennial favorite Modern Family, which has won four years in row.
