Mark your calendars! Pink Floyd is releasing its first album in two decades years this fall.
The band’s guitarist and singer, David Gilmour, plans to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band’s “last” album, The Division Bell, with a deluxe reissue. The group also plans to release new music.
Gilmour’s wife, author Polly Samson, leaked the news via Twitter Saturday, writing, “Btw Pink floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful.” Wright, Pink Floyd’s keyboard player, died of an undisclosed form of cancer at age 65 in 2008.
Though the musicians have reunited sporadically for one-off performances, it’s unlikely that Gilmour will invite floyd co-founder Roger Waters to appear on the band’s new album. After all, The Endless River is a continuation of sessions started during the recording of The Division Bell—and Waters didn’t appear on that album.
