New Yorkers eager to attend the world premiere of Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk will have to wait an extra day — and they can blame that on Pope Francis. The Walk had been scheduled to debut on Friday, Sept. 25 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall as the opening night film of the New York Film Festival. But The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that it is postponing the screening one day until Saturday, Sept. 26, because the original date conflicted with the Pope’s upcoming visit to New York City. The date change, the Society said, was made for logistical and security reasons. Sony Pictures will be releasing The Walk, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as high-wire artist Philippe Petit, on Oct. 9.
