The much-wanted Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequel won’t be coming to a theater near you.
Rooney Mara, who starred in director David Fincher’s movie adaptation of the best-selling novel, confirms it’s a lost cause.
She told E! News earlier this week at the Oxfam dinner she hosted with Barneys New York at Chateau Marmont, “I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m sad never to do it again, but it just doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards.”
Fincher reportedly told Swedish website Afton Bladet in September that a script was being written for a follow-up movie based on the novel The Girl Who Played With Fire.
Dragon Tattoo was released four years ago and co-starred Daniel Craig, Robin Wright, Christopher Plummer and Stellan Skarsgard.
The $90 million production grossed $233 million at the box office.
